This bottle comes with a specialized nozzle that is great for applying hair and scalp treatments into your hair routine such as apple cider vinegar rinses or hot oil treatments. It’ design reduces the amount of product wasted and provides direct coverage.

If you every plan on wearing you hair up and away from your face, this brush is for you! It helps smooth down fly-away hairs and helps create smooth, sleek styles. Be sure to purchase a boar bristle brush instead of a plastic brush because of it’s quality. These types of brushes are known for their ability to distribute the hair's natural scalp oils evenly and create shine.

Deep conditioning is essential to your natural hair care routine. Using one helps trap in additional heat, allowing moisture to penetrate the hair and root. Whether you are using a store bought deep conditioner or a D.I.Y treatment, this cap will boost it’s effects. They have microwaveable caps, steam caps or if you want to save a few extra dollars, you can always purchase a pack of clear caps from the beauty supply store.

The best way to keep tangles at bay is with a detangling brush. You know you have the right detangling brush if you can minimize the amount of pulling, tugging, and have little to no breakage. The two brushes I’d recommend are the Denman brush and the EZ Detangling brush. They can cost anywhere between $5.99 to $19.99.

If you love to slay your edges as much as I do, then you’ll need to invest in a few of these. Their toothbrush-like design helps groom delicate hairs without disturbing the entire style. It’s also helpful to have a brush like this handy for applying gel between parts for braiding or smoothing down a few flyaway hairs.

The perfect tool for teasing, fluffing and creating more volume for your braid out or twist out styles. The key is to separate the curls and use the pick close to the roots of your hair to preserve definition. For a fuller less defined look, use the pick closer to the ends of the hair. You can purchase one at the beauty supply store for $2.

Although there are a ton of choices when it comes to hair ties, you want to be sure and grab a few extra packages of these. Elastic bands can be used for ponytails, twist styles or even braided styles for children. Unfortunately, many naturals forget to get the ones without the metal clasps on them and they become the cause of breakage and tangles. Good news! Replacing your current hair tie is inexpensive and since they tend to lose elasticity, break, or get misplaced over time; keeping them handy shouldn’t be a problem.

If you own any type of heat styling tool, a good heat protectant is required. Even if you don’t apply heat often, the risk of heat damage and its effects are real. Without a protectant the harsh elements of heat alone could alter your curl pattern, damage your ends and hurt the health of your curls overall. You can find heat protectant products like Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow, Themal Protectant for $11.99 or find your favorite hair company selling one of their own!

I can’t tell you how many times my hooded dryer has saved a hairstyle. Hooded dryers are great for styles that require a little indirect heat to help them dry: like perm rod sets or flexi rod sets. You could even use it to avoid taking down a damp twist or braid out style when short on time. You can find a quality hooded dryer online or at beauty supply stores. They even come in different sizes and have a soft hooded dryer option that's budget friendly.

If you like to include styles with cornrows, flat twists, or other detailed styles, then a rat tail comb will come quite handy. It is essential for clean parting and can help turn a simple style into one that is more professional looking. Plus, they help with detangling the most difficult of knots by using the rat tail end to separate. You can find a variety of rat tail combs at your local beauty supply store.

Blow drying your hair doesn’t have to be damaging especially when you make sure to choose one with a cool air setting or button to control the amount of heat used. The width of the a paddle brush blow dryer allows for easy detangling and even heat distribution. Great for consistent results when achieving certain styles. I purchased my Revlon paddle brush blow dryer for $39.99 at Ulta and occasionally use the RevAir reverse-air dryer. Save %10 with code: Curlie3-click here

Friction from a towel can cause dryness, breakage, and frizz the same way a cotton pillowcase can. Every woman with natural hair needs a satin bonnet or scarf to sleep in at night. It helps protect your curls from unnecessary friction and breakage and preserves styles. Satin scarfs also double as a way to lay your edges. Just tie the scarf to lay flat on your edges for 10 minutes and you’ll have a sleek look all day. You can purchase a bonnet or scarf at the beauty supply store at a budget-friendly price.

Think having a satin bonnet and scarf is enough? Maybe, but what about the unexpected nights where you can't find your bonnet or your hair needs to air dry overnight? When you have a satin pillowcase you’re able to sleep without those worries. Satin pillowcases come in all shapes, colors and sizes online. I found that availability may vary at local beauty supply stores.

Whether you are refreshing your curls, or styling your hair you NEED a spray bottle handy to help deliver that extra boost of moisture to your curls between wash days. One of the great things about spray bottles is that they can be found anywhere, and for a low local dollar store offers a variety of colors and you can also get a continuous mist bottle off of Amazon for under $3.

Some prefer a wide toothed comb over a detangling brush when detangling and it works just as well. The difference is that it doesn’t define the curls. Best part, wide toothed combs are really affordable and come priced as low as $5!

If you have ever styled natural hair, then you know that working in sections is a must. Simple sectioning clips can help pin up unnecessary hair when styling; making the process more manageable. They can also be used in the shower for those who like to wash their hair in sections. Sectioning clips almost always come in multi-packs and can be found in any beauty supply store.
